Professional Background
I began my educational journey with a bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from Michigan State University. I worked as a preschool teacher, doula, nanny, and student advisor while I completed my master's degree (M.Ed) in Educational Psychology and my Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S) in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. I am currently a certified school psychologist in Michigan. I also hold the credential of a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) thanks to my rigorous training background. Upon receiving my graduate degrees, I have worked as a school psychologist in the public schools for the last seven years. For four years, I also worked as a therapist for a private psychology practice just outside of Detroit, Michigan.
I am currently working on my doctoral degree in School Psychology at Loyola, with an expected graduation in May 2025.
I have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with parents, teachers, and students both in the educational and private sectors. I have led several professional development sessions and parent training in executive functioning, anxiety, and emotion management in children. I have provided crisis intervention support, ongoing therapy, and group counseling to both girls and boys. I have partnered with teachers in creating, implementing, and monitoring behavioral and academic interventions for the students they serve. I have a passion for data-based decision making and giving kids what they need when they need it through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. I have evaluated hundreds of children for various disabilities including ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Anxiety, Depression, Cognitive Delays, and more in order to qualify them for special education services and accommodation plans at school.
Personal Background
Raised in the Midwest US, I am the middle child and only daughter born into a lively, energetic family with a high value placed on drive and ambition. I never knew an option of life that didn’t include signing up for ALL the activities, getting the highest grades, having all the friends, and essentially doing life at 100 miles per hour. Everything changed for me in 2020 when my mental health hit a life-threatening low. I was forced to look in the mirror and re-evaluate every aspect of my life. I have shared my story on my podcast, “The Be Word”, in order to empower and inspire other women going through their own challenges and to remind them that they are never alone in their struggles.
In my spare time , I love relaxing at home with my fiance, Nolan, and our pets Cali, Marshall, & Steve. I also love reading, creative writing, yoga, traveling the world, wake-surfing, scuba diving, and dedicating my nights & weekends to catching up with friends and family.
