Maggie McElroy, M.S., Psy.S
Certified Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA)
Girls Wellness Coach
Professional Background
I began a life of service as a pre-teen volunteering with an equine assisted learning facility for individuals with disabilities. From there, I continued to find jobs that contained one common theme- PEOPLE. So, when I reached college, I knew that I wanted to continue helping people access resources to become the best version of themselves. I obtained a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University in 2017. During my undergraduate work, I served on a research team using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to increase teaching time for toddlers identified with developmental delays. This role evolved into a graduate assistantship as I obtained my Masters degree (M.S.) and School Psychology Specialist Degree (Psy.S.) Throughout Grand Valley’s school psychologist program, I also obtained my Graduate Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Since graduating, I have worked as a school psychologist in the public schools for the last three years.
My training and experiences have allowed me to work alongside parents, teachers, and students to develop and implement strategies for success. From consulting with school staff and parents on how to navigate new and unfamiliar situations to providing direct therapeutic services to individuals, I have worked within several different disability categories.
Personal Background
Michigan born and raised, I grew up on the east side in a family of hockey and horses. As the middle-child of two brothers, I was fortunate to have parents that empowered me to use my voice. Today, you can usually find me and my husband lifting weights, hiking the beautiful U.S. landscapes, or enjoying a craft brew in Grand Rapids, MI. When it’s time to recharge, you can catch me reading psychological thrillers with my dog, Krumpet or teaching new tricks to my horse, Nemo.
